Inima întregului oraș este Citadela cu ruine romane și ammonite. De pe vârful Citadelei poți vedea un peisaj minunat peste dealurile orașului. Deși orașul pe care îl vedem s-ar putea să nu fie foarte vechi, pe dealul Citadelei există dovezi ale istoriei antice a orașului care a fost Philadelphia greacă. Există un muzeu arheologic interesant care merită vizitat. În apropiere, se află teatrul roman și unele muzee cu expoziții interesante de mozaicuri, bijuterii și costume. O plimbare prin oraș te duce la moschei și o varietate surprinzătoare de biserici, souk-uri și magazine. Amman este un oraș aglomerat unde modernul și tradiționalul coexistă umăr la umăr.
